Poppy’s Patch is a bell tent set right by the River Alwen. It offers the feel of camping with added comfort – from proper beds to a stylish outdoor space – so you can enjoy nature in style.

Available during the warmer months, it’s a relaxed way to enjoy the campsite without bringing all your own kit.

What you’ll find here

Our cotton 6-person canvas bell tent is non-electric and includes:

  • A combination of fixed beds and futons that can sleep up to 6 people – please get in touch ahead of time so we can tailor your setup to you.

  • Bed linens, rugs, blankets and soft furnishings.

  • An indoor log burner.

  • A chiminea area for evenings outside - please bring your own outdoor seating.

Guests also have access to:

  • Shared toilets.

  • Explore local activities from free fishing, walks, animal interactions, pub events and more.

  • A small camp shop for kiln-dried logs and a few essential.

  • WiFi and phone charging available in the pub.

  • No, access to the campsite is via a shallow ford across the river, which is only suitable for cars, small campervans and small trailers.

  • Unfortunately we cannot dogs on and around the campsite for hygiene and safety reasons, however well behaved dogs are more than welcome in the pub.

  • We are currently constructing a communal shower block available for guests in 2026.

  • No, this is a non-electric, back-to-nature campsite.

  • Yes, the pub has sockets for charging and wi-fi you are welcome to use.

  • our pitches are snug, especially by the river. If you’d like extra space or a more tucked-away feel, our forest floor pitches or cabins offer more privacy.

  • We keep a small stock of essentials, including:

    • Kiln-dried logs, firelighters, kindling

    • Giant marshmallows and skewers

    • Bottled beers

    • Crisps and snacks

    • Fresh food e.g. bread, milk, eggs and bacon

  • A few useful basics we’d recommend include:

    • Torch

    • Warm layers (it can get chilly at night)

    • Folding chairs

    • Towels

    • Power banks

    • Sensible shoes (ford and woodlands)

  • No, we’re a “leave no trace” site. lease take all rubbish home with you.

  • Yes , as long as it’s raised off the ground to protect the grass.

  • The Wi-Fi signal is limited in the fields, but you can access Wi-Fi in the pub.

  • The cabins use the same toilets and showers as the campsite.

    They do have:

    • Beds with linen

    • A heater

    • A small fridge

    • Tea and coffee making facilities

    • A balcony area

    They’re a cosy step up from canvas, but still simple.
